Will You Dance with the Devil? (Nick)

Amnell kept moving forward. Even with as many reservations as she had about doing this mission, and even just being within the Inquisition, the only thing to do was to keep moving forward. She paused for a moment as she came to a crossway in the structure where the only options were to turn left or right. Running a hand through her hair, she stepped to a nearby engraving on the wall, Ancient Sith script, which at least she could read well enough to get the idea of what was ahead, and which way to turn.

Though even with Amnell's limited experiences with Sith, she knew well enough not to trust the inscription. For Sith did like to play their games. Come, come, child of the Force, I know you can hear me... Come, come on now, to your left dear one. I know you seek knowledge. Why else would you be here? Come, come and meet me, child. A female voice whispered sweetly to her with such clarity that Amnell was almost certain the being speaking in her mind was standing right beside her.

Trying to trick me... Amnell thought to herself. A part of her wondered if whatever magic was left behind did have the power to hear the thoughts she was thinking in that instance. The other part of her barely cared. Time to move on... With that thought, Amnell turned right instead of left. It seemed the wise thing to do, to not listen to the voice whispering things within her mind. Noooo, to listen to such a voice was generally a bad idea... for anyone.

As she took a step forward, with her senses heighten and Amnell herself quite on edge, she felt the presence of another soul nearby. That for a second forced the brunette to stop in her tracks. Hopefully not another fool heading the call to listen to the voices of this temple and follow their commands to their death. With her skills in the Force so lacking, Amnell had little clue as to the nature of the threat that was coming to clash with her here in the ruins. The only thing she knew for certain was that someone was coming.

The crunching of shattered crystals and broken stone under boots were Amnell's first clue alerting her to the being finally catching up with her. Hearing him speak it occurred to her that this wasn't just some foolish person wandering into the ruins draw in by the sweet musings of an ancient sith mistress. The voice, the tone, it said it all, whoever it was they certainly were not here by accident and they definitely meant business.

Then the hum of the ever so familiar saber was her second clue, letting her know just exactly the nature of the man who had followed her into this terrible place. The green hue that was scattered upon the crystalline walls told her a hell of a lot. Jedi ... Fething A... This isn't going to end well.

She had hoped not to run into such a being again. Ever. One was enough for a lifetime. Having one here and now made her reach down to her own saber tucked tightly against her thigh in a hidden seam, keeping it from sight. Given he hadn't openly rushed to attack her gave her a small bit of a pause. Perhaps, she thought, the darkness within her had not taken root and wasn't obvious, perhaps she could play this out and see just who he was and what he was doing here. Despite her hatred of Jedi in general, she knew the possibility of avoiding a direct and likely lethal confrontation was worth pretending for a moment or two.

"Amnell." She replied back as she lifted her glow lantern to get a view of the human behind her. "I believe I might be a little lost." It wasn't entirely a lie. She didn't know exactly where she was going, only that she was supposed to be here right now. "Who are you?" She asked in return.

Master? ... Awww fuck... That alone was the last thing she was expecting. A Jedi sure, but not a master. Such a development definitely complicated matters. Amnell needed to find a good lie, a good story to get through. That was the only thing she knew with any certainty.

"Family..." The brunette paused and sighed as she cast her gaze downward, "I'm afraid I don't have anyone to call family. They've all passed on."

She shook her head quickly pushing the painful thoughts to the back of her mind. "Nevermind that though." Amnell managed a faint smile as she lifted her lantern to spread the light out further. "That pain is in the past, where it belongs," She gave a half-hearted shrug and carefully reached up and tucked a few stray strands of hair back from her face.

"Anyway...." She started but stopped, allowing herself a moment or two to breathe before she spoke again.

"I'm not here by accident, Master Jedi. I came seeking knowledge." She admitted after some hesitation. "You see, I'm a researcher of Ancient Sith and Jedi culture and this temple... Well, it came to the top of my list recently when I heard about the mysterious force that seemed to live within this structure. It's quite curious, don't you think?" She asked. Words seemed to be just spilling out with ease, far greater ease than she imagined.

"But ... you see... I think I took a wrong turn somewhere down that way," Lifting an arm she pointed to the long hallway behind her, "I lost my bearings in the process and have been trying to find my way back to the familiar." Her brow knitted together as she turned to the wall and cocked her head at another inscription. "Seems familiar ... Not sure... There are so many of these inscriptions in this place." Once again she shook her head, pushing away the seemingly scattered thoughts of a rather passionate researcher who didn't quite grasp the level of danger her own research placed her in. At least the small bag strapped to her back helped with that image that she was trying to portray.

"Oh... where are my manners, Master Jedi, please, come?" Her eyes were still on the inscription as she lifted a hand and motioned him over to her. "Come share in the light of my lantern. There is no need to remain in the shadows." Somehow she felt like she was holding a dragon by the tail. Sure it could be nice and sweet. But also had the potential to lash out and kill her in the blink of an eye if she didn't play her cards right. "Hmmm... Fascinating."

"So, despite the danger, I'm not leaving, not just yet." At this point, Amnell wasn't sure what was going to happen, however, all she could do was see it through to its end.

She paused as she lifted a hand tracing along the ancient script with a single finger as she whispered something so softly, so quietly it could not be made out. "Interesting... Darth Zannah and Darth Corgnus of the New Sith wars are mentioned here..." This Amnell was not in any way making up. It was all there carved there in front of her into the crystalline wall.

"New being a relative term of course, as their existence was roughly two thousand years ago," The brunette gave a shrug, "Give or take a little." Amnell had spent her time well in the libraries of the Inquisition, taking in all the history and lore of the Sith and Jedi alike. For she had far too much time on her hands after her disease's most recent and harsh attack on her body. Reading had at least passed the time while she recovered.

Her brows knitted together as he spoke, urging her to leave this temple of darkness behind. "I can't just leave this place behind without creating a record of it first." She sighed heavily, "If the Empire were to come to this world, and find this place..." She gave a glance around her, "All of this would be lost. All the lessons that could be learned, it would be just another tragedy that they have perpetuated."

Reaching up she pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to determine what her next move would be. "As I mentioned before, I won't let such a thing happen. The Empire has done enough damage to the history of the galaxy as it stands. For both Sith and Jedi are an integral part of it, and they are doing all that can be done to erase you both from not just the Galaxy, but the history books as well."
