The Shadow Scholar
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Occupation: Scholar/Scientist
Faction: Sith
Appearance
Standing at 5'10'' with a slim, if not slightly muscled build, it's not too uncommon for Portray to be mistaken for someone in their teens, rather than their twenties. He has a fair complexion, and a rather youthful face, punctuated by a pair of cool blue eyes. His hair, despite his age, his grey with a tint of blue, styled in a somewhat messy manner with a large fringe covering the right side of his face.
In terms of attire, black is the colour of choice. He wears a black overcoat, zipped up and with a silver chain reaching across his neck. The coat includes a hood, though he seldom wears it unless in severe weather conditions. He wears a matching pair of black pants, a pair of knee high black boots, and black leather gloves.
Personality
As someone who's aligned with the Sith, Portray is, surprisingly benign. He's not out for galactic power, or to destroy his enemies. No, Portray's ultimate goal is knowledge, more specifically, knowledge of the Force. Portray disproves of the separation between the light and dark sides of the Force, particularly how they're handled. The Jedi completely devoid themselves of emotions and attachments, effectively removing their 'humanity' if you will, while Sith completely submerge themselves in their emotions, giving into their darkest impulses. Surely there must be a middle ground. Being able to utilize the lighter aspects of the force, while at the same time acknowledging the darkness within everyone. really, the only reason he's affiliated with the Sith is because they're the most tolerant of his research.
Portray is really quite affable to others, often being polite and friendly to others at first. It's really after he develops a negative opinion of others does he become snarky to them. s a scholar, he's quite intelligent, and tends to keep an open mind about concepts and theories. One of his biggest peeves, as a result, is closed mindedness. He feels the philosophies of both Sith and Jedi are too limiting. Wouldn't it logically make sense to utilize all of the Force, rather than just using one extreme or the other? Despite his curiosity, he knows the risks of dabbling in the Dark Side of the Force, and tries to be careful with it, keeping his emotions in check.
Despite being one of the sith, Portray tends to shy away from combat. He's a scientist and a scholar after all, not a soldier or a warlord. Even with his skill in the Force, he prefers to end conflicts peacefully, rather than use brute force. He does have a way of words, proving to be rather convincing to others. He does appreciate a good debate, and tries to keep such discussions calm and civil. He has a light sense of humour, and a sharp wit.
History
Portray was born into a relatively normal life, at least when he was younger. Loving parents, a decent quality of life, Portray wasn't left wanting. However, at the age of five, it was discovered that he was born Force Sensitive. With such a revelation, he was sent of to the Jedi to be trained in the ways of the Force.
In the beginning, it seemed simple enough. The boy was an avid learner, and while he wasn't the most physically capable, he showed a strong understanding of the force, and was considered a bit of a prodigy. However, as he reached his teens, some problems started to pop up. He began to question the teachings of the Jedi. Why was a Jedi not allowed to love? Why deny their passion? Why did the Jedi code deny things like chaos and death? Such things existed. It was appearing to Portray that the jedi's understanding of the force was, rather
limited. His teacher's refusal to discuss the subject irritated him further. Finally, at the age of seventeen, he could take no longer. In the dark of the night, he stole a ship and fled from the temple, effectively abandoning his training.
He travelled across the galaxy, hiding from the Jedi, and trying to find somewhere where he could study the force properly, without anyone inhibiting him.
Then he discovered them. The Sith.
A group who explored the other side of the force. The side of passion and emotion! At first, Portray was overjoyed. People like himself! However, he quickly discovered that this group were jut the opposite extreme to the Jedi. They were violent, power hungry, and didn't even consider the light side of the force. Still, they Sith proved much more lenient to his research than the Jedi. As such, Portray began to stick with them, gaining himself a position in their order, and resources to properly conduct his research. He's considered the odd man out of the Sith, due to his tendency towards the light, but as he's willing to earn his keep, the Sith tolerate him.
Strengths
Portray has a rather profound talent in using the force. He's quick to pick up on new abilities, with minimal study, and even tries to come up with his own force techniques. Due to avoiding both extremes of the Force, he can utilize abilities both of the light and dark side.
+
As a scholar and a scientist, Portray has a good deal of knowledge, both in the force, and other fields. He's always eager to learn more, and is a fountain of knowledge for others.
+
for a Sith, he's rather polite and friendly, often coming off as charismatic. As such, he's rather good at debate and pursuasion, often resorting to negotiation to sort out a problem, rather than violence.
Weakness
While he's a prodigy with the force, he is not a warrior in any way, shape or form. Sure, he's moderately skilled with a vibrio blade, but had abandoned his Jedi training before getting a light saber, and never bothered to get one with the Sith. In a straight of fight, don't expect him to fare well.
+
Due to him dabbling knothole the light and the dark side of the force, he's proficient in both, but not a master of either. As such, while he's versatile in the Force, his abilities aren't as strong as others who focused on one or the other.
