Akio left the ramp of the shuttle that had carried him down to Atrisia carrying his Naval duffle over his shoulder. As was proper having just left for his first leave after the Academy, he still wore his ensign's uniform. As he walked to the exit of the spaceport Akio could not help but notice the occasional glance. Atrisia was not a terribly important planet to the Imperial war machine, but it was still a core world so someone in Imperial uniform should not be so surprising.
Unsure of why they were watching him, and wary of someone recognizing his family lineage, he kept his movement quick without allowing himself to look hurried. Once he was out of the spaceport he took a deep breath. Akio had never been one to be the center of attention, especially considering he spent much of his childhood in his room studying or at the family dojo practicing. Nakai had been the one that made friends, not him.
Speaking of Nakai, she was supposed to be back on leave as well. However, she was coming from a different direction so he did not know when her shuttle would arrive. Frowning, he realized they had not set a place to meet. Seeing a small restaurant nearby, Akio decided to wait there. Entering he found an empty table and sat down and ordered a snack while he waited.

Coming home felt so strange after all this time. She too still was wearing her uniform and had noticed a few glances towards her. Nakai with her striking looks was used to a few people taking notice of her just about everywhere she went, but this was different. Something in her gut was telling her, warning her subtly that trouble might be brewing.
Gut feelings she trusted, even more, these days, after all in her line of work they not only kept her alive but ahead of the game too. However, this was home how much trouble could really be about when she had only just arrived? This time she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind but kept her guard up. After all one never knew.
Picking up her pace Nakai headed towards the edge of the spaceport where many restaurants were clustered. Without an exact meeting place, it seemed the most logical place to find her brother. After a little searching, she spotted a familiar face in the crowd. with her usual bright smile, she wandered over to the table and without even saying a word she flopped down in the chair across from Akio.
Her eyes fell to his snack, and she shook her head "Always with the tea, I see the academy didn't shake that from you." She teased, cocky and confident as ever perhaps more so this time. Leaning over she reached over and stole a single chip from his plate, just like always. Nakai just couldn't help but tease her brother. That much hadn't been shaken from her even after all her training.

Akio looked up to his twin, the brief flash of annoyance gone before it could reach his face. Nakai always did have a knack for trying to get under his skin. Perhaps it was simply the nature of siblings, and something military academy could not rid them of.
"This is the first decent cup of tea I have had since we left for Coruscant, sister," Akio said instead."Four years of drinking tea flavored water is no way for a civilized Atrisian to live. I need to make sure to stock up on tea leaves before we leave. My tea deprivation aside, how have things been? Holonet calls are just not that same as being able to see and talk to you in person."

Nakai just grinned catching the slight hint of annoyance that passed across her brother's face. She'd known him far too well to miss that. And that annoyance was more than enough for her. "I suppose the tea is rather crappy outside of Atrisia. Personally I've become rather attached to Caf. Though it's really the only option with Skystrike being so far out in the galaxy." She said with a wink not quite willing to openly admit that the tea was one thing she truly missed about home.
"It does feel weird to have my feet on the ground. Much prefer my TIE fighter over being planetside." A pleasant smile had formed on her lips with her mind shifting to her fondness for flying. "Things have truly been going well, so I cannot complain. And you brother?" She asked before changing her mind a little about staying in the restaurant, "Perhaps we can walk and chat. After all we are expected at home soon." Nakai said as she glanced to her watch to check the time.

Akio could not help the familiar twinge of envy when she mentioned Skystrike. He shared her love of flying, but only she had been chosen to go to the elite flight school. He did not begrudge his sister, but that did not help him forget the crushing feeling the day she had been picked without him. It had also been the first time they were separated for such a long time in their entire lives.
"As well as can be hoped, it would seem they have put me in the tactical track for my first ship assignment," he responded. That decision seemed to point to Naval Command seeing something in him. As tactical was the quickest way to get to ship command, it only seemed natural they were preparing him for that role. Or at least seeing if he had the ability or would instead fail and be moved to a less prestigious specialization.
At Nakai's suggestion Akio paid his tab and stood up. "You are right sister, much as I would prefer not to return home."

"That is awesome!" She said still as happy and bubbly as ever. "Any idea what they are planning on assigning you to?" Her curiosity ever present, which was bound to get her in trouble sooner than later. She was one that just had to test everything just to see how it all worked. Even if that might spell her doom.
She nodded slowly, "Home isn't exactly where I'd like to go either. But where else were we going to go on our first leave?" Rhetorical question for sure, nonetheless true. It wasn't like they had too many options elsewise save their apartment on Coruscant.
Catching a few glances more in the crowd, Nakai couldn't help but feel that nagging gut feeling rising up again. "Akio? Have you noticed the number of people keeping eyes on us?" She whispered as they headed out of the spaceport.

"I've heard they are commissioning a new ship for the Atrisian sector," Akio replied, "so I might be stationed on the new ship. Or more likely on one of the older ships they pull crew from."
At Nakai's prompting he did not turn to look around. Their jar'kai training had taught them it would obvious to any enemies if he did. That did not mean he had not caught similar glances out of the edges of his vision. "I have. Our people are still very much divided. I am sure some of them are happy to see us, just as I am sure many are unhappy. Those that live in the shadows have little love for those that server the Law."

"Well working close to home wouldn't be too bad," Nakai said as they came to the edge of the spaceport. With a lifted hand she flagged down a speeder cab for them. "I wouldn't mind that myself, but knowing my luck I'll be assigned to a Star Destroyer clean on the other side of the galaxy. Sadly we'd never get assigned to the same ship like that. Not with the rules about families. Can't be stationed in the same sector much less the same ship."
Teasingly she nudged Akio with an elbow to the ribs, "Plus I don't think you'd want me around on your ship. I'd just drive you nuts." Playful as ever, she was. Getting into the cab, Nakai motioned for Akio to follow. "Come on, let's go home."

"It would be nice to have someone I knew around," Akio mumbled under his breath after she slipped into the car. She was right though, it was unlikely that either of them would ever serve together. That meant outside of holonet calls, rare chances like this might be there only times to see each other for a very long time to come. While he did not regret joining the service, he did find the idea of being separated from his twin lonely. Not that he would ever admit it to Nakai.
Following her into the cab, Akio silently watched the scenery change as they passed. Four years, and nothing looked diffrent. Atrisia was still Atrisia. It had seemed like forever to the young man barely turned twenty-two, but he realized now that for the Galaxy it was really no time at all. "I wonder if any of our cousins will be there to greet us."

Nakai didn't quite catch what Akio mumbled. Her eyes were already glued to the scenery, taking in all she could. Passing a bamboo forest a soft smile spread across Nakai's lips. All she could think about was the days she spent running through those forests, exploring until exhaustion overwhelmed her.
She had just turned to her twin to reply when the shearing of metal and shattering of windows tossed her across the cab and into Akio. Momentarily she found herself stunned and unable to move as smoke filled the vehicle. Nakai shook her head in an attempt to get her bearings once more. Before she could even really try to get a word out to her brother she felt a hand on her arm ripping her from the speeder.

It happened so fast, one minute they were traveling through the city and then the next the world was chaos. It was not unlike crashing in a flight sim, but the difference between a simulation and the real thing was like night and day. For a moment he blacked out as Nakai slammed him against the side of the speeder, but he came back with a start only to see Nakai being pulled from the speeder.
As adrenaline filled his veins, Akio grabbed the long bag attached to his luggage yanking the contents out. As he stumbled from the speeder, he threw off the sheath of the single jar'kai blade he had managed to grab. Holding it up while panting, he looked to the person who had grabbed Nakai and prepared to attack if they tried to hurt her. The fact that it might have been someone helping her had seemed unlikely given the swiftness after the crash, but he still could not rule it out so he could not strike... yet.

Before she even knew what was happening Nakai found herself ripped from the vehicle. In a way, it reminded her of her first time she actually flew a fighter getting impacted from the side and momentarily stunned, out of it. At least that day they were kind with training. That couldn't be said of every day at Skystrike.
With the world spinning a hair slower, she started to come around, understanding the situation as the grip of whoever had grabbed her tightened painfully. This wasn't some stranger trying to help it was something else entirely. That was the thought in the young woman's head as she used her free arm to jam her elbow into the ribs of the person pulling her further away from the crash site. That ended in a yelp and the grip loosening ever so slightly. Her next move was fat and hard as she slammed her foot down against the man's instep forcing him to release her.
It seemed her training finally kicked in as she darted away from the man, though she didn't get far before encountering another goon. Unfortunately, she held no weapon at all, not even a holdout. Which left her out of options as the man pulled a blaster on her.

It was painfully obvious that Akio's fear these individuals did not have good intentions was correct. Thankfully Nakai proved she was no less capable than Akio and broke from her captor, but he saw that she was heading to one he had not seen before carrying a blaster.
Moving forward he brought his sword straight up, severing the man's hand from his arm and sending both hand and blaster flying safely away from Nakai. The first man had recovered and chased after her, but hesitated at the sight of the sword. Not giving the man a chance, Akio's training moved his body for him bringing the raised sword down in a diagonal and severing the man's head and arm from his torso.
Part of Akio's mind was horrified at having just taken a human life, but reacting to his first kill would have to wait. Even as the dead man's body crumpled to the ground Akio saw more shadows moving toward them.
"Grab my other sword from the speeder," he said to Nakai in a low voice. While their jar'kai training was primarily a double sword style, it had many single sword forms as well just for occasions like this. Two trained yovshin with a single blade would prove far more useful right now than a single man fighting with two. Not that either of them stood a good chance against blasters. jar'kai dueling blades were not lightsabers after all.
