Unique Traits to Species:
- Strong for their size-Given the high gravity of their homeworld, Asha’ladier are naturally stronger to compensate. This is only really noticeable on standard or low gravity worlds.
Denser-Asha’ladier are harder to hurt by physical blows, as their tissue and bones are denser to hold up against the higher gravity of their world. - Master Engineers-The species has a natural gift for understanding the mechanics of everything they see, and so are naturally gifted engineers.
- Strong senses-The species has large eyes and ears, and a sensitive nose. Because of this, their senses are naturally greater than humans, though not significantly so. On the flip side, their senses are easily overloaded. A flashbang can cause actual damage to their ears and leave them unable to see for long periods of time. They also cannot stand strong sunlight without protective eyewear. While their nose filters out most offensive orders so it does not overpower other odors, if they come accross a smell that dislike the smell is overwhelming.
- Sharp teeth - The Asha'ladier have a row of extremely sharp teeth, originally for biting through the tough skin of their food.
- Short- The high gravity has caused the species to be naturally shorter as they evolved.
- Dense-Asha’ladier cannot swim in water unassisted, as their bodies are naturally denser than water. Drowning is an ever-present fear on their homeworld.
- Trouble Speaking Basic-The species has never encountered Galactic Basic, and their vocal cords can only pronounce many syllables with great difficulty. Most Asha’ladier would need protocol droids with them if they ever traveled off-world, though some have learned to speak in choppy sentences.

Culture, History, Lore: Culture:
The Asha’ladier revere technology as both the life giver and life taker. Every aspect of their culture is affected by technology and the advancement of it. The planet is led by a council of Tech Elders, all of whom in some way advanced technology in their life. All technology is seen as a gift from Asha, the God of Fire. They were given the ability to understand Asha’s gifts and see improving Asha’s gifts as their cultural duty. The Rakata are seen as the messengers of Asha. While the original ideas of their faith have been lost to time, they continue to serve Asha faithfully.
Family units are not as strong among the Asha’ladier because the Asha’ladier have large litters. A family is used more for genealogy identification in conjunction with regions than the traditional sense most off-worlders have. Once an Asha’ladier reaches adolescence they will typically live the litter and start their own lives. Mating is the only long-term ties normally kept, as they do mate for life. The male and female actually form a chemical bond during mating that makes them unable to be attracted to others of their species.
Names typically consist of a given name followed by region apostrophe surname. So it takes the appearance [Given Name] [Region Born]’[Surname]. The great Asha’ladier inventor Kiht Heidjr’Oshan. Kiht, of the Oshan family, born in the Heidjr region.
Their food mainly consists of the mushroom-like fungi that grow on their homeworld. As these mushrooms can grow hundreds of meters in height the Asha'ladier will eat the interior, and use the hollowed mushroom as a building. The mushroom skins are extremely hard which allows them to grow to such extreme heights, and the Asha'ladier adapted by having sharp shark-like teeth.
They are nocturnal by nature, as the predators on their planet were originally active during daylight hours the Asha'ladier would go from burrow to burrow at night hiding during the day. While they eventually wiped out all predators on their homeworld and cultivated their favorite foods to grow in abundance, the remained nocturnal as bright light was uncomfortable to most Asha'ladier.
Technology level: In line with modern technology, it has been stagnant for thousands of years with most advancements being minor in nature. However, the ancient basis of their technology has caused it to feel very different from other species. In many cases, it has a more mystical feel, despite functioning in a similar manner.
General behavior: The Asha’ladier find themselves more comfortable surrounded by technology than nature, despite their herbivore nature. Planets like Coruscant are seen as wonders, where the less advanced planets are avoided except by the rare Asha’ladier that sees an opportunity to advance the world. To them, a problem is just a new invention away from a solution, and they will often go out of their way to invent something new to solve a problem that could more easily have been solved by less advanced means.
History: The Asha’ladier evolved on their high gravity homeworld, struggling to survive the long and harsh winters. Eventually, their minds evolved to its current state and the Asha’ladier quickly set out to rebuild their world to better suit them. Despite lacking advanced forging techniques, they used whatever materials they could to build shelters from the cold and planetary predators.
Eventually, they were discovered by the Rakata who enslaved them for their engineering abilities. This brought them new technology like they could never have imagined before, it was the moment their species changed from a number of separate tribes each fighting for survival to a single united species serving Asha’s will.
When the Infinite Empire collapsed, the Asha’ladier were left stranded on their homeworld. Locked from the rest of the Galaxy by a Rakata shield. To fill the void of their Rakata masters, they created a council of elder made up of individuals who contributed to the advancement of Asha’s gifts. These elders lead the people in all cultural and political decisions, but largely Asha’ladier keep to themselves and their work.
The Asha’ladier as a people long to leave their planet behind, and to explore the Galaxy. To find new problems that need solving and new materials to build wonders never known before. After the Galactic Empire destroyed the shield, many willing gave themselves to the Emperor's service.
