When Felicity was a child, she would look down from her bedroom window at the lake and note the reflection of stars on the waters inky back surface. She thought it looked like endless sky and a sea of stars.
When she was older, she would sneak out at night, just to float on the waters surface and imagine the sea of stars above. She would float and pretend to touch the sky. Black water, filled with a thousand silver fish.
Now she swam in the ocean she had always dreamed of. Through the trasparent helmet, she watched the Galaxy turn around her. The black ocean of stars was endless. Perfect silence, perfect peace. She was finally happy again.
QT beeped at her over the comms in her helmet, reminding her again why she'd taken the walk into space in the first place. Felicity sighed, pulling on the teather that kept her from floating away forever. When she reached the ship again, she latched herself to the hull, keeping steady as she pulled a tool from her belt.
"Yeah yeah, I know," she groaned, "Killjoy."
The droid beeped at her again.
"Hey!" she snapped, "Say that to my face! You rusty bucket of-"
A shadow slipped across the hull of her ship as something blocked out the distant sunlight behind her. The girl blinked and slowly turned her body as best as the bulky space suit would let her.
"QT? QT, how do my oxygen levels look? 'Cuz, I'm pretty sure I'm hallucinating."
The droid beeped again, informing her that the oxygen levels in her helmet were indeed, perfectly normal.
"...I was afraid you'd say that."
Hovering a good distance away was the wreckage of a large black space station. Obviously abandoned a good while ago, judging by the bits coming off of it. What really concerned Felicity was the fact that it didn't show up at all on her radar.
"...How in the hell did I miss that?"
