What an unsatisfactory answer. She had the distinct urge to pull out her blaster and shoot him somewhere that hurts. While his hand fell to his saber, hers went to her hip and the saber he gave her so many years ago. She unclipped it from her belt and threw it carelessly over her shoulder at him.
"We all grieve in our own way. You're not wrong."
She stuck her hands deep in her pockets, looking across the landscape at her fathers- no. Her ship now.
"Been carrying your weight around with me for a long time. Starts to wear a girl down."
She didn't move, didn't start walking away. She'd waited for this for a long time, hoping to hear just one thing from him, but she was too proud to ask.
"You can have it, by the way. The planet, the credit, the discovery. Whatever. It's yours. Hope it's everything you wanted."
Keter straightened up, letting his hand drift away from his weapon as he walked forward, bending down to fetch his old saber. An...artful display. Freeing herself of her past.
Good. It was best that way. She had always been a free spirit. He tossed the old weapon up into the air, watching it twirl before it landed back in his hand. The blond shook his head. "You won it. Fair and square. It's yours to do with as you see fit."
He stood there for a moment longer, at the defiance of his daughter.

He turned away from her. Shame? Anger? Probably not. He was hardly ever that complex. He was probably just bored with the conversation and ready for it to be over.
"I know," she replied with a shrug, "and I am. I don't want it. Never really did. So it's yours."
Yup. Take it away and then throw it back in his face. That honestly felt better than shooting him.
"I, um, do have one request though, since this all belongs to you now."
She took a deep breath, looking back at him over her shoulder. Her mind went back to coruscant, to the squrming little bundle in the trash. Her hiding place was secure... for now, but it was temporary. Sure, felicity had no obligation to look out for the kid, but... For some reason she still found herself asking after the child's development, sending credits to help with her care. Something told her it was important to do.
"I want to hide someone here. You wouldn't mind, right?"
"Heh. And here I thought you were the responsible one," the blond said, looking back at his daughter. What was she plotting this time? She was a lot less...sneaky, than Celeste, true, but Felicity had plenty of cunning.
"Hmm. Hide you say?" Keter replied, stroking his chin. "...if you think they'll be hidden with me around, sure."
Oh yeah, becuase he was the pillar of discretion. Him, Keter Mason. The man who had taken potshots at the Senate.

The girl shrugged, looking out at the horizon. This was something new, very new. And old at the same time. But most importantly, it was difficult to reach. Yes. She was sure of it now.
"Better with you than with Manto and his Jedi friends," she sighed, "I think she'll be safer here. What are the odds the Empire will come looking for this place? With thousands of civilized systems to enslave, I'd say the chances are pretty slim."
This wouldn't be a great place to grow up. Not really. Still, it was better than being a slave to the Empire, or having a bunch of old Jedi boss you around. Yeah. At least this way she'd be free to do what she wanted when she was old enough to decide. At least this way Felicity would always know how to find her.
"I'm not going to ask you to raise her, But can I at least ask you to check in on her now and again? As a favor to me? She's probably the closest thing to a grandchild you're going to get."
The blonde grinned, wishing she could see the look on... well, what was visible of his face. He was getting old and she had to remind him of it. Soon he'd be gray and complaining of hip pain or whatever old people did. Ah, Felicity would have paid every credit in her bank account just to see him live long enough for that.
Keter was silent for a moment as he processed those words. "After you...after Celeste...you would entrust a child to me?" he asked. There was no accusation in his tone. Just a simple question. A chance for her to think. Was Keter truly the best option for his child?
He made mistakes. Had made mistakes. Would undoubtedly make new ones.
The blond snorted at his daughter's following words. "Not through lack of you and that brat trying though I imagine," he idly shot back, playing the embarrassing father card.

Why did he act like he'd been the worst parent ever? Sure. He messed up, vanishing after mom died. He was human, after all. Mistakes just came with the territory. Funny. Felicity had come out here to punish him for those mistakes, make him really regret it. Now that she was here, there hardly seemed a point.
"Better you than me. I'm not really... parent material," She grinned and shrugged, still facing away from him, "And you didn't mess us up that bad. I mean, I was good enough to beat you here and Celeste has a whole planet under her watch. That's not too bad."
She chose to ignore the second thing he said. He wanted to embarrass her and she wasn't going to let him. She was an adult now. Her choices were her own business. Besides, she could be dating a drug dealer, or a crime lord. Settling down with a former imperial military man was hardly the worst she could do.
"You know... I thought this would go differently. Like, we'd have some big epic show down. A lightsaber duel at sunset. This... isn't really what i had in mind. "
