A bit of a chuckle slipped through Serinn's lips at the remark that he'd been training at the Temple in his spare time, and as she followed him in disembarking from the vehicle, one pale brow lifted before she spoke. "Well, training is definitely a beneficial way to keep busy in your off-hours." There was a bit of a wistful tone in her voice, as the young woman remembered the constant training she'd gone through after first joining Hapan Security, and later, CorSec.
Entering the temple, he spotted Dyto Uknok. "Koh-Toh-Yah, Master Dyto." Dyto turned and greeted the kel dor Jedi in the same fashion. "And who might this be?" Dyto asked curiously. "She is a pupil of mine. Serinn, this is Dyto Uknok. He is the combat instructor here. One of the strongest and wisest in the art of combat here among the Baran Do. I've learned a lot from his teachings."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Serinn." He said before turning his attention to Kaen. "You bring yet another outsider to be trained by the Baran Do?" Kaen shook his head. "No, Master Dyto. She wishes to be instructed in Jedi combat, so I will be teaching her for the time being." The kel dor combat instructor chuckled a bit. "Can't leave the Jedi life after all I see. Very well, our full training facilities are open to you to train her." Giving a bow, Kaen responded. "Thank you."

Following silently along behind Kaen, Serinn gave a respectful bow to Master Dyto, before speaking. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Dyto." As she was still wearing the breath mask, her voice still sounded slightly electronic or muffled, though it was no less polite as she offered her greeting.
Motioning Serinn to follow him, they made their way to the training room. "Here we are." He said before getting ready. "Before I will teach you, I need to see what you know first. I want to see your raw natural saber skills to gain a better understanding of your person."

Following Kaen, who was apparently going to be her teacher once again, though she had basically stated that her desire was to learn from him, they soon found themselves in a training room. Blinking at him with a nonplussed look on her face, she spoke after a moment or two, with a hesitant and confused tone. "Uh...you do remember I never learned the first thing about a lightsaber, right?" A wry tone also entered her voice with her next words. "I'm a Jedi Knight in some respects, perhaps, but not all." Serinn's mouth curved into a wry half-smile as she fell silent.
"It's not about what you have or haven't learned. It's about what you can do. A person doesn't need to be trained with a sword to know how to swing it." He paused before continuing. "A person's natural self shines when there has been nothing to influence it. I'm not assessing what you know. I'm assessing who you are. Your natural body movement with a blade. Your natural instincts. These things can tell me a lot about who you are as an individual, and as a combatant. From there, I can properly instruct you." Reaching for his lightsaber hilt, he pulled it from his belt and readied it. "Now, show me what you can do."

A slow nod of acknowledgement was Serinn's initial reaction as she took in what Kaen had to say, waiting until he finished speaking before stretching quickly to loosen her muscles, still rolling one shoulder before slipping out of her jacket, revealing that she wore a sleeveless tunic beneath it. Moving to place it against the wall, the blonde-haired woman gave Lira a scratch on the underside of her chin before lifting her and placing her just inside the article of clothing where it was still warm, and then unbuckled and unstrapped her blaster pistol's shoulder holster. Setting that down next to her jacket as well, she finally retrieved her lightsaber from within the jacket, before moving to rejoin Kaen.
Coming to a halt roughly four or five feet from him, she curled the fingers of both hands around the hilt awkwardly before thumbing the button, the blue blade igniting with the typical snap-hiss sound that lightsabers were commonly known to produce, and then began moving towards him with no expression on her face, though she was extending her awareness around her as best she could. It would be easily apparent that her entire focus was on him, her pupil-less silver-blue eyes were paying careful attention to his body language and what she could see of his muscles, doing her best to be not be caught unaware by any action he might take . . . at least for her level of skill and experience with the weapon held firmly in both hands.
With a snap hiss, a blue blade sprung forth from the hilt. Gripped firmly in his hand, Kaen moved the blade in a vertical position held to the right side of his body. His left foot leading while his right foot was placed back behind him.Without haste, he turned the blade outward and down to where the tip of the blade was parallel to his right foot.. At the same time he swung it forward as his right foot followed, allowing the blade to strike upward to aim for Serinn's left thigh.

Watching as Kaen pivoted on his left leg to face her, right hand bringing his lightsaber slashing in towards her left leg, Serinn had flashbacks from the arena she'd been in unwillingly so long ago. Pivoting on her right leg so she was mirroring Kaen's pose in reverse, the young woman shifted her grip on the cylindrical device she held so it felt more comfortable, and twisted her wrists to angle her blade in order to block his.
"Good defense." He was already starting to slowly form a profile of her in his head. Without notice, he pulling his blade back and thrusting it forward in order to stab her chest.

Choosing not to expend energy on replying, Serinn's brows began to draw together in an expression of intent focus as she studied the angle and direction of his thrust for a moment or two...before simply taking a step backwards, while remaining perpendicular to him. Settling her weight as soon as she did this, she manuevered her own lightsaber up into what she thought was a defensive position, parallel to her body. The blade hummed audibly as the lightsaber was held before her in a shield-like fashion, both hands still wrapped firmly around the hilt as she went motionless once more.
No reply. Good. That showed dedication and focus. The moment she got into position, Kaen stepped forward, twirling the blade around his left side and bringing it up to swing it down towards her head.

Taking note of the movement of Kaen's weapon's blade as he flourished it on his left side, Serinn's eyes would have narrowed at his overhead strike, if they'd been organic. As it was, she merely lifted both arms, raising her own weapon's blade to an angle that would allow her to block his attack. While she was Hapan, one thing she had never been was prone to embellishment or overly flamboyant gestures, preferring economy of motion instead; if it served a purpose and was efficient, the young woman would keep it in mind. Otherwise...she tended to discard such mannerisms. Unless the situation called for them.
As the sabers clashed, Kaen held his position firmly. Stepping in, he quickly pulled the blade back, moving it under and striking diagonally upward in an arching manner. His blade facing opposite of his opponents. The side of her body where her blades hilt would be, his blade would be facing. His movement was tight, close, and short in movement. Not allowing any gaps or room for her to move her arms down to block as his blade came upward. His strike aiming to come up and hit under her arms. Had it not have been for him having his lightsaber on a low power setting, the strike if landed would've slices off an arm.

A wry grin curved Serinn's lips briefly as she studied her erstwhile opponent's manuever, silently thankful that her time doing theater productions when younger, had included dancing lessons. The flexibility that she'd honed in a plethora of hours came in handy for a number of things, apparently including lightsaber training. Taking a single look at the angle that Kaen's blade was following as it cut through the air, three responses came to mind - though she discarded the first two and went with the third one. Which was to throw herself away from his ascending attack, into a backwards somersault while keeping a one-handed grip on her lightsaber.
Impressive, he thought to himself. For someone who lacked training with a blade, she was quite able to hold her own. As she moved back, Kaen pushed forward to quickly close the distance. With the momentum, he thrust his blade forward to stab her. Moving his leg outward, he placed his weight on it and quickly pivoted around her. His back facing the back of her side. In mid swing of his blade one hand changed positions, now gripping the blade in reverse, while the other hand kept turning the blade. Changing it from what would've been a slash, into a stab. Using the hand he used to turn the blade, he placed it on the pommel, pushing it as he thrust the blade behind him to stab her from behind.

Having just regained her feet, Serinn let out an "Eep!" at the suddenness of Kaen's frontal assault, and had just begun to bring her own lightsaber up to attempt batting his aside, when he kept moving. Beginning to feel a little out of breath given how long it had been since she'd needed to stay in shape, the young woman tried to keep up as best she could with the Kel Dor's rapid movements, just barely managing to finish her turn in time to notice his blade angling in towards where her back had been. Grimacing, she decided to change tactics, and reached out with the Force in an attempt to yank the lightsaber out of his hand. Whether it succeeded or not, remained to be seen.
The Jedi knight's grip on his lightsaber hilt remained tightened as he felt the pull of the Force trying to pry it from his hands. Dedicated to end the session there, he maintained his course of action.

When giving Kaen's lightsaber a firm tug or two did nothing, Serinn ceased her attempt at disarming him telekinetically, running through her options quickly before deciding that discretion was the better part of valor. After all, it was only a training session. Lowering her hands to her sides, she thumbed the activation button on her own lightsaber, causing it to deactivate as she relaxed her muscles as best she could.
Kaen deactivated his lightsaber. He had seen all there was. The way she fought, her movements, her actions, showed someone who was a survivor. Someone who had gone through many things most would've already been dead from. "You've done rather well. You're raw in your fighting, but you are quick thinking and resourceful. Which will matter in a life or death scenario. Of course you already know that. You fight to survive. Now that I've truly grasped a greater understanding of you, I can begin to teach you properly."

A quick dip of her head was Serinn's acknowledgement of Kaen's assessment of her skills, and she waited silently to see if he said anything else, or if he posed a question to her.
Before Kaen could get out a word, a sage entered the room. "Sage Kaen, the council has requested to speak with you in their chambers immediately." Kaen looked over to Serinn before looking back at the sage. "I'll be right there." He spoke as he made he way towards the door. "I'll be back soon."
