T'was the night before Lifeday and all through the city, not a soul was celebrating; it really was a pity.
The City of Theed, all covered in snow, had not one ouch of decor, not bauble or bow.
The Imperial flags hung on every street post, warning citizens to comply or else they'd be toast.

Felicity had come home. After all the time away, she couldn't do it any longer. She'd heard the stories, saw the news casts, read the lies the Empire was spreading. And she'd had enough. Besides... Who didn't want to be home for the Holidays?
The family home had been nearly abandoned since she'd left, and she'd spent her first few days home cleaning and dusting. And repairing the droids that had been meant to clean and dust for her while she was away.
And now she sat at a table, alone with her plans. And gift wrap. Rolls and rolls of gift wrap. The Empire could take her home, her family, and even her people's pride.
But they couldn't take this. She was going to have a festive Life day if it killed her. And with what she'd had in mind...
It just might.
Others were in on it too. Part of this Holly Jolly Resistance. It started with, well...
This.
Felicity unrolled yards of colorful paper, carefully cutting it and folding it around boxes. This was important. Gifts were meant to spread cheer, and that was exactly what the Empire didn't want. She tied a rainbow of ribbons around the cubes, topping them all with a big bow. Into a giant sack they went, one after another. In her little 'workshop', she wrapped her handmade gifts and prepared them for phase two of this master plan.
Somewhere in the streets of Theed, another plan was being hatched. Decorations were being smuggled through checkpoints, lights secretly strung up on posts while guards were distracted, gifts exchanged in dark alleys.
And the tree. The beautiful tree in the center of town. That would be the centerpiece of it all. If they could get that decorated before the morning, the people would have to notice. It was a symbol, a beacon. And Felicity would make sure even her sister could see it from atop her tower.
The blonde wiped her brow as she finished wrapping the last few gifts. A small bundle she kept aside. These ones had labels, meant for certain people. Family, friends, loved ones. This was the season for love, after all. The smallest of these boxes, was by far the most precious.
She stood up, throwing a bright red robe over her shoulders and slipped on a pair of voorpak fur gloves. It was nearly time. She snatched up the smallest box and examined it with a silly smile. On the label it read in curly gold letters DO NOT OPEN UNTIL LIFE DAY. Owain was good at following clear instructions. She set the box back down on the table and gathered the giant bag of gifts, slung it over her shoulder and made her way out into the swirling snowy mists.
